主席 / Chairman李健聪 / Lee Chean Chung

Lee Chean Chung has been a Member of Parliament for Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia since November 2022. He was also a Member of the Pahang State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Semambu from 2013 to 2022. He graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Electronics Engineering (majoring in Computer) from Multimedia University. He then pursued further studies and obtained a Master of Science in Transportation and Logistics from Malaysia University of Science and Technology, as well as a Master of Public Administration from Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore (NUS). He was also a Dong Fang Scholar from Peking University, China.

Lee Chean Chung has held important positions in several business organizations and non-governmental organizations, including as a board member of the Kuantan Port Authority (2018-2020), Advisor of Pahang Guangxi Trade and Investment Association, and Advisor of #ScamVictimSupport (an active legal/mental support group for scammed victims).

Active in international engagement and training, Chean Chung was selected as an alumnus of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Young Politicians (KASYP) program in Germany in 2012 and participated in the Environmental Protection and Green Technology Workshop at Tsinghua University in 2014. He is also a fellow of the International Adenauer Network and a Professional Fellow of the Youth for Southeast Asia Leadership Initiatives (YSEALI). He was invited to speak at the Generation Democracy’s Youth Leadership Academy (2017), Copenhagen Democracy Summit (2020), and the Danish Institute for Parties and Democracy (DIPD) (2020).

Chean Chung has research experience in several fields. His master’s thesis, titled “GPS Taxi Dispatch System Based on A* Shortest Path Algorithm”, has been cited in several journal articles. In 2019, he co-published a paper on “Institutions for Sustainability: Informal Settlers” at the GSP Conference 2019 Urban Possibilities: Reimagining Philippines. He co-authored books including “Jiwa Merdeka” and “Green Political Reform” (绿色政改), and is also a columnist for Malaysiakini and Contemporary Review.

His research interests include sustainable development, industrial policy, the ASEAN regional economy, transportation policy, and food security.

He has served as the Member of Parliament for Gopeng since December 2022. Previously, he served as the Simpang Pulai State Assemblyperson. Throughout his term as the 10-year state assemblyperson, he was elected as a Perak State Executive Council Member, which made him the Chairman of the Perak Tourism, Culture, and Arts Committee. He was also on the Perak Public Transport Committee, which worked with the state government and the Ministry of Transportation to support urban short-distance bus services.

He graduated from the University Putra Malaysia with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He actively participated in student movements as well as national democracy and human rights movements. Then he also went to the Konrad Adenauer School for Young Politicians (KASYP). He is interested in advancing national agricultural and food security reforms through sustainable development policies, as well as creating a new national development agenda and a new development path that narrows the gap between rich and poor in cities and towns through innovative urban planning.

Chua Wei Kiat is a member of Selangor State Legislative Assembly for Rawang since 2018. He serves as a committee member of Selangor Legislative Assembly’s Special Select Committee on Poverty Eradication.

In 2010, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Business Management from Abertay University, Scotland. He also served as an assistant to William Leong Jee Keen, the Member of Parliament for Selayang, Selangor, and was a local councillor for the Selayang Municipal Council from 2014 to 2018.

During his tenure as the assemblyman for Rawang, he has been committed to promoting community development through the implementation of soft programs, such as “Old Town New Life” program, to attract young generations to return or stay in their hometown for development.

In 2014, he was selected to participate in the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Young Politicians (KASYP) program in Germany. His research interests include International Relations, Youth Policy, Targeted Poverty Alleviation and Housing Policy.
