YB Lee Chean Chung

YB Lee Chean Chung currently serves as the Member of Parliament for Petaling Jaya, Selangor, since November 2022, and is a member of the Parliamentary Special Select Committee on Finance and Economy. He previously served as the State Assemblyman for Semambu, Pahang, from 2013 to 2022. In 2023, he was appointed as a Member of the Authority of the Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia.

YB Lee completed his undergraduate studies at Multimedia University (MMU), where he pursued Engineering with a major in Computer Engineering. He holds two Master’s degrees: an M.Sc. in Transportation and Logistics from Malaysia University of Science and Technology (2006), and a Master in Public Administration from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (2019). In 2020, he was awarded the Dongfang Scholarship from Peking University, under which he completed a three-month executive programme titled “Workshop on Governance” alongside 25 emerging leaders from around the world.

Prior to entering politics, YB Lee worked in a global market research and consulting firm. From 2008 to 2011, he served as a Research Officer at the Political Studies for Change Unit, where he provided policy and strategic research support to approximately 30 Members of Parliament and assisted in organizing policy consultation sessions.

YB Lee has extensive experience in research and public policy, with areas of focus including sustainable development, industrial policy, the ASEAN regional economy, transportation policy, and food security. He is also active in public discourse, contributing regularly to platforms such as Malaysiakini, The Edge, and Contemporary Review. He is the author of the book Green Political Reform (绿色政改).

In terms of public service and organizational involvement, YB Lee currently serves as President of the Southeast Asian Parliamentarians Against Corruption (SEAPAC) for the 2025–2027 term, and as President of the Malaysia-China Technology Promotion Association. He previously served as a Board Member of the Kuantan Port Authority (2018–2020), and holds advisory roles in various organizations, including the Pahang Lee Clan Association, the Malaysia-China Twin Parks Association, and the Scam Victim Support Group (#ScamVictimSupport).

On the international front, YB Lee was selected for the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Young Politicians Programme (KASYP), where he was recognized as an Outstanding Alumnus. He is also a fellow of the foundation’s international network, a Professional Fellow of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative and the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL), and a graduate of the Political Advisor Course at the Graduate School of Government, University of Sydney. He has spoken at various international platforms, including the Youth Leadership Academy of Generation Democracy (2017) and the Copenhagen Democracy Summit (2020).
