Chairman 主席YB Lee Chean Chung 李健聪

YB Lee Chean Chung has served as the Member of Parliament for Petaling Jaya since November 2022, following his tenure as the MLA for Semambu from 2013 to 2022. He was appointed as an Authority Member for the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia in 2023. 

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Multimedia University and two Master’s degrees: an M.Sc. in Transportation and Logistics from Malaysia University of Science and Technology (2006) and a Master’s in Public Administration from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, NUS (2019). In 2020, he completed a 3-month executive program on governance as part of the Dongfang Scholarship Program at Peking University, China.

Before entering active politics, YB Lee worked in global market research and consulting. He then served as a Research Officer at the Political Studies for Change Unit (KPRU) from 2008 to 2011, providing strategic research support to approximately 30 MPs.

YB Lee’s research experience spans various fields, including sustainable development, industrial policy, the ASEAN regional economy, transportation policy, and food security. His master’s thesis, titled “GPS Taxi Dispatch System Based on A Shortest Path Algorithm,” has been widely referenced in academic journals. He co-authored papers such as “Institutions for Sustainability: Informal Settlers” and books like “Jiwa Merdeka” and “Green Political Reform” (绿色政改). He is also a regular contributor to publications like The Edge, Malaysiakini, and Oriental Daily.

Active in international engagement and training, YB Lee was recognized as the Most Outstanding Alumnus of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Young Politicians (KASYP) program in 2019. He is a fellow of the International Adenauer Network, a Professional Fellow of Youth for Southeast Asia Leadership Initiatives (YSEALI) and the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL), and a graduate of the Political Advisor Course at the Graduate School of Government, The University of Sydney. He has spoken at various international platforms, including the Youth Leadership Academy of Generation Democracy (2017) and the Copenhagen Democracy Summit (2020).

Deputy Chairman 署理主席YB Tan Kar Hing 陈家兴

YB Tan Kar Hing has served as the Member of Parliament for Gopeng since December 2022. Previously, he was the Simpang Pulai State Assemblyperson for 10 years, during which he was elected as a Perak State Executive Council Member, chairing the Perak Tourism, Culture, and Arts Committee. He also served on the Perak Public Transport Committee, collaborating with the state government and the Ministry of Transportation to enhance urban short-distance bus services.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from University Putra Malaysia and was active in student, democracy, and human rights movements. He also attended the Konrad Adenauer School for Young Politicians (KASYP).

YB Tan is passionate about advancing national agricultural and food security reforms through sustainable development policies, as well as creating a new national development agenda to bridge the urban-rural wealth gap through innovative urban planning. In 2023, he was appointed as a Member of the Board of Directors of Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd, where he is committed to supporting technology startups.

Executive Director 执行董事YB Chua Wei Kiat 蔡伟杰

YB Chua Wei Kiat is a member of Selangor State Legislative Assembly for Rawang since 2018. He serves as a committee member of Selangor Legislative Assembly’s Special Select Committee on Poverty Eradication.

In 2010, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and business management from Abertay University, Scotland. He also served as an assistant to William Leong Jee Keen, the Member of Parliament for Selayang, Selangor, and was a local councillor for the Selayang Municipal Council from 2014 to 2018.

During his tenure as the assemblyman for Rawang, he focused on promoting community development. He implemented soft programs like the ‘Old Town New Life’ initiative to attract young generations to return or stay in their hometowns.

In 2014, YB Chua was selected to participate in the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Young Politicians (KASYP) program in Germany. His research interests include International Relations, Youth Policy, Targeted Poverty Alleviation and Housing Policy.

Director 执行主任Chong Jing Wen 锺静雯

Chong Jing Wen is the Director of the Centre of Regional Strategic Studies (CROSS), where she is responsible for the institute’s overall strategic direction, coordination of research initiatives, and the facilitation of dialogue and policy-related engagement.

She has a background in journalism and has extensively covered Malaysian as well as international politics, court proceedings, and major national issues. This experience has provided her with practical insights into public governance, legal institutions, and state operations, shaping her analytical perspective on public policy and institutional issues.

She has also worked in corporate public relations, with experience in corporate communication and stakeholder engagement. In addition, she serves as Assistant Secretary of the Islam–Confucianism Dialogue Society, where she is involved in promoting intercultural and inter-civilisational dialogue, with a focus on social cohesion and values-based public discourse.

Project Manager 项目经理Mawaddah Hanaani binti Ahmad Shukri 玛瓦达 · 哈娜妮

Mawaddah Hanaani is the Project Manager at the Centre of Regional Strategic Studies (CROSS), where she oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of the institute’s projects, ensuring effective delivery in alignment with the organisation’s strategic objectives.

She brings over a decade of professional experience across administration, graphic design, and operations management. Prior to her current role, she held various leadership and creative positions, specialising in corporate communications, digital marketing, and branch operations. Her extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and managing complex operational logistics has shaped a practical, adaptive, and results-driven approach to project management and organisational efficiency.

Beyond her professional career, she is actively engaged in public service and community leadership. She serves as the Supervisor of Pusat Wanita Berdaya (PWB) DUN Rawang, Treasurer of the Selayang Hospital Board of Visitors, and Panel Advisor to the Rawang Health Clinic. Her continued involvement in social welfare and women’s empowerment initiatives reflects a strong commitment to social cohesion and the advancement of value-based public programmes.
