Pre-Budget Dialogue

Empowering SMEs Through Dialogue | Bridging the Gap with Policymakers!

On 16 October 2024, CROSS co-organized a Pre-Budget Dialogue with ACCCIM at the Parliament of Malaysia, offering a unique platform for SMEs to engage directly with policymakers, ensuring their voices are heard in shaping the nation’s budget and policies.

Key speakers included YB Lee Chean Chung, Chairman of CROSS and Member of Parliament for Petaling Jaya; YB Tan Kar Hing, Deputy Chairman of CROSS and Member of Parliament for Gopeng; Teoh Kok Lin, National Council Member cum Chairman of the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Committee and Advisor to the Digital Economy of the Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM); Cham Owi Tong, Board Member of SME Corp Malaysia; and Datin Paduka Tan Yee Kew, former Member of Parliament for Wangsa Maju.

While the Masterplan may look promising on paper, real-world implementation can be challenging. It is crucial for policymakers to stay in constant dialogue with stakeholders to understand these challenges and make timely adjustments.

During the dialogue, leaders from various industries presented the bottlenecks and issues faced in their respective fields. This dialogue successfully gathered key concerns from the tourism, automobile sales, auto parts, early childhood education, laundry, and technology sectors.

By facilitating open discussions, we aim to support the growth and success of local businesses, driving innovation and economic development across Malaysia.
